It's easy to drive a joke into the ground. A very funny idea can be funny for five pages, but not for 10; an SNL sketch for two minutes, not for six; an Onion article with a headline, but not for a full story. That's why
this spoof version of 'The Wire' transposed to Victorian times (where it's a collection of stories written by 'Horatio Bucklesby Ogden) is so impressive. It keeps its central joke going through an almost analytical breakdown of the show and it just gets funnier and funnier. It's an absolute perfect satire.
